Stack'n'Splash is an action puzzle designed to test your sorting skills under pressure. Arrange blocks into groups by swapping, pushing, stacking, dropping, and splashing! Groups of 3 or more blocks are removed from the game and points awarded! Your aim is to push the remaining blocks under the water! All this time, new blocks are raining down from the sky, in a race against the clock!
Careful game play will slow the falling blocks, but you'll have to move fast when the levels get more difficult! The game takes on elements of Bejeweled and Tetris Attack, and adds more than a splash of originality
Stack'n'Splash Instructions
Stack'n'Splash was designed to be very easy to pick up! Simply swap, push, drop, and splash the blocks! Try to join 3 or more blocks of the same color and they will go fizz and pop! Your aim is to push the remaining blocks under the water level. All the while, new blocks drop down from above, so keep moving! You don't need to join blocks in every move, but it helps! You can add extra blocks to an existing "fizzing" group, before it pops!
Basic Controls
Mouse Button: Drag, Swap, Drop
P Key: Pause Game
Escape Key: Open In-Game Menu
F6 Key: Switch Full Screen / Window Mode
Stack'n'Splash: Arcade mode
Here we will explain how to play the regular game mode. For details on Relaxed mode scroll down to the bottom of the page.
Drag, Swap, Drop, Splash!
You can drag any block and swap it with a block next to it. You can also drag blocks into an open space. You can only move one space at a time.
Making Groups
If you join 3 or more blocks of the same color, they will start to fizz, and then pop! When a group of blocks start to fizz, you can add more blocks to the group by dragging. You only have a short time to do this so you must be quick! You get 25 points for removing 3 blocks, but you get double points for removing 4 blocks! The bigger the group, the more points you get, up to a limit of 1000 points for 10 blocks!
Underwater
You will complete a level if you can push the remaining blocks under the water level. The water covers the lower three rows of the game area, so you must reduce the blocks to 30 (or less) and push them under the water! You must do this before the time runs out.
Raining Blocks
New blocks continuously fall down as you play. The speed depends on the level you are playing and how efficient and skillful you are. The Blocks will fall quicker as the timer runs low, so try to finish the level before the timer gets into the red!
Skip a Level
If you complete a level when the timer is still yellow, you will skip a level! You will also be awarded a large amount of bonus points!
Skilful and Efficient Play!
You don't have to form a group with every move! Sometimes you may need to move a block two places to create a group. That is OK, but if you play too sloppy, the blocks will rain down faster. If you are efficient and you make large block groups, the falling blocks will slow down!
Stack'n'Splash: Relaxed Mode
Differences in 'Relaxed Mode'
Relaxed mode is similar in many ways to the regular mode. The few differences however, make the game play very different. You will need to use completely different strategies in Relaxed mode in order to progress to the higher levels. Here's a rundown of the changes and new strategies you must use:
* There are no time restrictions at all, you can play as slowly as you like. The 'Relaxed Mode' is based on 'Moves' instead of real time. Think of it like a game of Chess. You can take your time to consider every move.
* The time bar on the right of the game area falls down, based on each move you make, and each block that appears. It's not a real "time" indicator at all, but when the bar runs out the game is over. You must make every move count, and complete a level efficiently!
* Each time you make a move you will see new blocks fall from above. If you make good moves, the blocks will drop in smaller numbers. If you make bad moves, the blocks will fall in greater numbers. Try to create big patches of blocks (4, 5, 6 or more) using the least amount of moves. A patch of 4 blocks is as good as two patches of 3. If you manage to cause a cascade of blocks, that it even better!
* In later levels you will need to create big patches, and cascades to make full use of every move you make.
* Even though you can play as slow as you like, it's still worthwhile building bigger patches using two or three moves. Any time you are able to add an extra block to a 'fizzing' patch, in just one move, you should do it!
